Origin: Brazil, South America.

Size: 6–7 inches (15–18 cm) leg span.

Lifespan: Females 12–15 years, males 3–4 years.

Lifestyle: Terrestrial and opportunistic burrower; may create shallow burrows and web around its hide.

Appearance: A striking species with bold black and white banding on the legs, a dark carapace, and reddish to golden hairs on the abdomen. Its contrast makes it a standout display tarantula.

Temperament: Defensive and fast-moving. Will flick urticating hairs readily when disturbed. Not recommended for handling.

Care & Habitat:

Enclosure: Terrestrial setup with plenty of floor space, a large hide, and 5–6 inches of substrate for burrowing.

Substrate: Moisture-retentive soil, coconut fiber, or a soil mix.

Temperature: 74–80°F (23–27°C).

Humidity: 65–75%, with a shallow water dish and occasional misting.

Diet: Crickets, roaches, mealworms, and other large feeder insects weekly; juveniles more often.
