Origin: Socotra Island, Yemen.
Size: 5–6 inches (12–15 cm) leg span.
Lifespan: Females 12–15 years, males 3–4 years.
Lifestyle: Terrestrial and communal; builds extensive burrows and elaborate web networks, often cohabiting peacefully in groups.
Appearance: One of the most beautiful tarantulas in the hobby, with striking cream-colored carapace, deep blue legs, and reddish to golden abdominal tones.
Temperament: Defensive but less aggressive toward others of its species, making it one of the few tarantulas successfully kept communally. Handling is not recommended.
Care & Habitat:
Enclosure: Terrestrial communal setup (if keeping multiples) with deep substrate, hides, and objects for web attachment. 6–8 inches of substrate is recommended for burrowing.
Substrate: Soil, coconut fiber, or a soil/sand mix that supports burrow stability.
Temperature: 74–80°F (23–27°C).
Humidity: 65–75%, with a shallow water dish and light misting. Ensure good ventilation.
Diet: Crickets, roaches, mealworms, and other feeder insects weekly; juveniles more often.
