Origin: Brazil, South America.
Size: 2–2.5 inches (5–6.5 cm) leg span.
Lifespan: Females 8–10 years, males 2–3 years.
Lifestyle: Terrestrial and fossorial; constructs burrows and often webs extensively around its retreat.
Appearance: A small but striking species with a dark body, reddish to pink hairs on the legs, and subtle copper highlights on the carapace.
Temperament: Generally shy but quick; may be defensive if disturbed. Best appreciated as a display tarantula due to its small size and reclusive lifestyle.
Care & Habitat:
Enclosure: Compact terrestrial setup with a hide and 3–4 inches of substrate for burrowing.
Substrate: Coconut fiber, soil, or a soil mix that retains moisture.
Temperature: 72–78°F (22–26°C).
Humidity: 70–80%, with a small water dish and occasional misting.
Diet: Small crickets, roaches, mealworms, or other appropriately sized feeders 1–2 times per week.
