Origin: Tanzania, East Africa.
Size: 3–4 inches (7.5–10 cm) leg span.
Lifespan: Females 7–9 years, males 2–3 years.
Lifestyle: Semi-arboreal, heavy webber; often builds silk tunnels and retreats in elevated or ground-level spaces.
Appearance: Brown to golden body with a reddish chestnut hue on the carapace and legs, complemented by a dense covering of setae.
Temperament: Generally shy and reclusive but can be quick if disturbed. Known for tolerating communal setups under the right conditions.
Care & Habitat:
Enclosure: Semi-arboreal setup with cork bark, plants, and web anchors. Provide excellent cross ventilation to prevent mold.
Substrate: Coconut fiber or soil mix to hold moderate humidity.
Temperature: 74–78°F (23–26°C).
Humidity: 65–75%, with a shallow water dish and light misting.
Diet: Small crickets, roaches, and mealworms 1–2 times per week; juveniles more often.
