Dolichothele minerium – Purple/Black Dwarf Beauty

Origin: Brazil

Size:  A dwarf tarantula, adults reach only about 3 inches (7–8 cm) leg span.

Lifespan: Females - 10 to 12 years / Males - 2 to 3 years

Lifestyle: Terrestrial/Arboreal

Appearance:  Dark, velvety body with a subtle purple sheen.

Temperament & Behavior: Fast and defensive, not ideal for beginners.

Prefers to retreat into webs rather than display aggression.

Heavy webber - often webs near the enclosure lid.

Care in Captivity:

Enclosure: Terrestrial with some vertical features (cork bark, twigs) for webbing.

Substrate: Lightly moist, never waterlogged; provide a water dish.

Temperature: 72–78°F (22–26°C).

Humidity: 70–80% with good ventilation.

Diet: Small insects (crickets, roaches, mealworms).
