Avicularia avicularia M6 (Metallic Pink Toe Tarantula)
Origin: Northern South America – Venezuela, Guyana, Suriname, and Brazil.
Size: 5–7 inches (13–18 cm) leg span.
Lifespan: Females 10–12 years, males 3–4 years.
Lifestyle: Arboreal; builds silken retreats in trees, shrubs, and elevated enclosures.
Appearance: This morph of the Common Pink Toe has a dark body with metallic green and blue iridescence, pink-tipped toes, and sometimes reddish abdominal hairs. Its shimmering colors distinguish it from other Avicularia avicularia morphs.
Temperament: Generally calm but quick. Can jump when startled and may release fecal spray as a defense. Handling is not recommended.
Care & Habitat:
Enclosure: Arboreal setup with vertical space, cork bark tubes, and plants for climbing. Provide excellent cross ventilation to prevent stagnant air.
Substrate: Coconut fiber or soil mix to maintain moderate humidity.
Temperature: 72–78°F (22–26°C).
Humidity: 70–80%, with good airflow and a shallow water dish.
Diet: Crickets, roaches, and other insects weekly; juveniles more often.
