Origin: Ecuador, South America.
Size: 4.5–5 inches (11–13 cm) leg span.
Lifespan: Females 10–12 years / Males 3–4 years.
Lifestyle: Arboreal, builds silken retreats in elevated spaces.
Appearance: Dark body with a metallic purple sheen across the legs and carapace, especially vibrant under light.
Temperament: Generally calm but fast; can be skittish. Not aggressive, but handling is not recommended.
Care & Habitat:
Enclosure: Arboreal setup with vertical space, cork bark tubes, and plants for climbing and webbing. Provide excellent cross ventilation to prevent stagnant air and mold.
Substrate: Coconut fiber or soil mix to maintain moderate humidity.
Temperature: 72–78°F (22–26°C).
Humidity: 70–80%, with good ventilation. Provide a shallow water dish.
Diet: Crickets, roaches, and other insects weekly; juveniles more often.
