Origin: Myanmar (Burma) and Thailand, Southeast Asia.
Size: 5–6 inches (12–15 cm) leg span.
Lifespan: Females 12–15 years, males 3–4 years.
Lifestyle: Fossorial; constructs deep, silk-lined burrows and spends most of its time underground.
Appearance: One of the most striking tarantulas in the hobby. Adults display metallic cobalt-blue legs contrasted with a dark body and lighter carapace.
Temperament: Extremely defensive, fast, and reclusive. Rarely seen outside its burrow except at night. Not suitable for handling.
Care & Habitat:
Enclosure: Fossorial setup with 8–10 inches of compact substrate for deep burrows and a secure lid.
Substrate: Moisture-retentive soil, coconut fiber, or a soil/sand mix that can support tunnels.
Temperature: 74–82°F (23–28°C).
Humidity: 70–80%, with consistently damp substrate. Provide a shallow water dish.
Diet: Crickets, roaches, and other feeder insects weekly; juveniles more often.
