Caribena versicolor (Antilles Pink Toe Tarantula)
Origin: Caribbean Islands, primarily Martinique.
Size: 4.5–6 inches (11–15 cm) leg span.
Lifespan: Females 10–12 years, males 3–4 years.
Lifestyle: Arboreal, building silken retreats high above the ground.
Appearance: One of the most colorful tarantulas in the hobby. Spiderlings are bright blue, while adults develop a striking blend of metallic green, purple, and red with pink-tipped toes.
Temperament: Generally calm but fast and skittish. Not aggressive, but prone to quick bursts of movement; handling not recommended.
Care & Habitat:
Enclosure: Arboreal setup with vertical space, cork bark tubes, and plenty of climbing structures. Provide excellent cross ventilation to prevent stagnant air.
Substrate: Coconut fiber or soil mix to retain moderate humidity.
Temperature: 72–78°F (22–26°C).
Humidity: 70–80%, with a water dish and light misting.
Diet: Crickets, roaches, and other feeder insects weekly; juveniles more often.
