Origin: Chiapas, Mexico.
Size: 4–5 inches (10–13 cm) leg span.
Lifespan: Females 12–15 years, males 3–4 years.
Lifestyle: Terrestrial and fossorial, often creating burrows or hiding under natural cover.
Appearance: Dark brown to black body with subtle bronze or reddish highlights, giving it an understated but attractive look.
Temperament: Generally shy but can be defensive if disturbed. Not recommended for handling.
Care & Habitat:
Enclosure: Terrestrial setup with hides and 5–6 inches of compact substrate for burrowing.
Substrate: Soil, coconut fiber, or a soil mix that holds burrows well.
Temperature: 72–78°F (22–26°C).
Humidity: 65–75%, maintained with a water dish and light misting.
Diet: Crickets, roaches, and other feeder insects weekly; juveniles more often.
