Origin: Trinidad and Venezuela, South America.
Size: 3–4 inches (7.5–10 cm) leg span.
Lifespan: Females 7–10 years, males 2–3 years.
Lifestyle: Semi-arboreal and communal; builds extensive silken retreats with heavy webbing, often tolerating group living in captivity.
Appearance: Olive-green body with golden to bronze highlights and darker striping on the abdomen. A gold color form is also available in the hobby, displaying a uniform golden hue.
Temperament: Fast and skittish but not overly aggressive. Known for being more tolerant of conspecifics, making it one of the few species suited for communal setups.
Care & Habitat:
Enclosure: Semi-arboreal setup with cork bark, plants, and web anchor points. Provide excellent cross ventilation.
Substrate: Coconut fiber or soil mix to hold moderate humidity.
Temperature: 74–78°F (23–26°C).
Humidity: 65–75%, with a shallow water dish and light misting.
Diet: Small crickets, roaches, and mealworms 1–2 times per week; juveniles more often.
