Origin: South Africa.
Size: 4.5–5.5 inches (11–14 cm) leg span.
Lifespan: Females 12–15 years, males 3–4 years.
Lifestyle: Terrestrial and opportunistic burrower; often creates shallow burrows and webs around its retreat.
Appearance: One of the most beautiful African tarantulas, with a golden carapace and metallic blue legs that shimmer under light.
Temperament: Generally more tolerant than other baboon tarantulas but still defensive and fast if provoked. Not recommended for handling.
Care & Habitat:
Enclosure: Terrestrial setup with 4–5 inches of compact substrate, a hide, and items for web attachment.
Substrate: Soil, coconut fiber, or a soil/sand mix that supports burrowing.
Temperature: 74–80°F (23–27°C).
Humidity: 55–65%, with a water dish. Keep most of the enclosure slightly dry.
Diet: Crickets, roaches, mealworms, and other feeder insects weekly; juveniles more often.
